City Centre malls commemorate Oman’s 45th National Day with community initiatives honouring Omani heritage

Under the patronage of H.H. Sayyida Hujaija Jaifer Saif Al Said, Art of C will take place on November 15-19 at City Centre Muscat and City Centre Qurum. Omani Singer Nasr Al Sulaimi, accompanied by local musicians, to perform the country’s national anthem at City Centre Muscat on November 20.

 

City Centre Qurum and City Centre Muscat, Majid Al Futtaim’s leading lifestyle destinations in the Sultanate, are paying tribute to Omani heritage in celebration of the 45th National Day through a series of compelling cultural activities from November 15-20.

City Centre malls launch the second edition of the community arts initiative, Art of C - Majid Al Futtaim shopping malls community-driven arts initiative for City Centre malls in collaboration with Oman Society for Fine Arts (OSFA) under the Fine Arts Festival “ Watani Lawhati”. Art of C aims to promote the Sultanate’s thriving arts culture through an interactive cultural platform at City Centre Qurum and City Centre Muscat. Running from November 15-19, the five-day programme will unveil some of Oman’s respected artists representing the 11 governorates of the Sultanate on 3D C-shaped canvases.

C-shaped canvases will be placed at key areas of the malls and used by the invited artists to demonstrate national pride using a variety of artistic mediums. 7 of the 11 artists from Omani Society for Fine Arts (OSFA) will be working at City Centre Muscat, while the other four will be creating artworks at City Centre Qurum.

The artworks will be displayed at different areas of the malls, and then will be gifted to Government entities after the exhibition. A dedicated jury will announce three winners from both malls, and distribute prizes of OMR 1000 (1st prize), OMR 750 (2nd prize) and OMR 500 (3rd prize) at the closing ceremony on November 19 at the leisure court of City Centre Muscat.

 

 

City Centre Muscat and City Centre Qurum will also feature an interactive workshop for the little ones as part of the Art of C. By donating OMR 1, budding young artists can hone their artistic skills by painting small C-shaped sculptures while helping other children in the community. All proceeds will be donated to the charity, “Dar Al Ataa”.

“Supporting the communities in which we operate, through the Art of C initiative, we bring together aspiring and professional artists to showcase locally-based talents while honouring the culture and heritage of Oman. What makes the programme more valuable is the opportunity to support the young generation as all proceeds of the workshop will be donated to the charity organisation Dar Al Ataa,” said Watfa Humaid Al Harthy, Senior Mall Manager for City Centre Qurum.

Rounding out the cultural festivities as part of 20th anniversary of Majid Al Futtaim’s City Centres brand, are a selection of performing arts events suitable for the entire family to enjoy. From 15-19, City Centre Qurum and Muscat will host international performers in choreographed gymnast stunts and drumming recitals. On November 20, music lovers at City Centre Muscat can see and hear Omani singer Nasr Al Sulaimi, along with local artists, perform the country’s national anthem as well as both original and well-loved hits.

City Centre Muscat and City Centre Qurum will also adorn the malls with patriotic installations to share the spirit of Omani national pride during this period.
