‘Make a Difference this Ramadan’ with City Centre Malls

Residents in Oman are encouraged to donate household items for those less fortunate

Muscat, Oman, 23 July, 2012 – Together, City Centre Muscat and Qurum City Centre will continue to support local charity efforts and the under-privileged, by running the ‘Make a Difference this Ramadan’ donations campaign, building on the success of last year.

The ‘Make a Difference this Ramadan’ initiative is part of annual Majid Al Futtaim Properties’ region-wide Ramadan campaign, with all 11 malls in the GCC participating. Last year, over 149,000 items were gathered collectively and due to the overwhelming success, City Centre Muscat and Qurum City Centre are proud to once again host the drive and inspire customers to give generously.

“Holding the Make a Difference this Ramadan campaign again this year holds at its core the importance of respecting those who are less privileged and to make efforts to give what we can, with the aim of bettering their quality of life. We hope to promote the spirit of charity and generosity during Ramadan and to improve on last year’s collection total,” said Senior Manager, City Centre Muscat, Husam bin Mohammed Al Mandhari.

Contribution boxes will be located in each mall, where the public is encouraged to donate everyday items that modern society often takes for granted, such as non-perishable foods (canned vegetables, dried dates, sugar), books, reading glasses and mobile phones. All collected items, from both malls, will then be distributed to the local charity, Dar Al atta’a Association - a non-profit, volunteer- based charity that cares for those in need across the Sultanate. As a token of appreciation, everyone that makes a donation will be given vouchers redeemable for discounts at participating retailers.

City Centre Muscat and Qurum City Centre will continue to provide a social meeting point for the community this Ramadan, with both malls hosting daily activities including children’s Quran learning sessions from 10am-12pm, henna painting from 8:30pm-11:30pm and complimentary dates and Arabic coffee for families to break the fast with.

Qurum City Centre will also be rewarding shoppers dining in any of the mall’s food and beverage outlets throughout Ramadan. A 10RO bill from any of the restaurants can be entered into the daily raffle, where diners receive the chance to win a prize of 15RO in Qurum City Centre vouchers for use at any food and beverage outlet in the mall. Two lucky winners will be announced each day.
