40% of mall’s stores to be renovated and modernized
Muscat, Oman; 24 September, 2013: City Centre Muscat, the first and largest shopping and lifestyle destination in Oman is progressing with its redevelopment project as the mall has started the renovation and upgrading of 60 stores across the entire retail offer. The store upgrades are being completed in phases from now into 2014 as part of City Centre Muscat’s 7.3 OMR million ambitious redevelopment project aimed at redefining the shopping, leisure and entertainment landscape.
During this particular phase of redevelopment, store enhancements will be staggered for a limited period of time to allow for renovations, ensuring that City Centre Muscat is able to welcome shoppers throughout this exciting period. Once complete, the stores will reveal an entirely new ‘look and feel’ with refreshed interiors, higher shop fronts and a modernized shopping experience.
“City Centre Muscat is undergoing an exciting period of transformation as part of our wider redevelopment project,” said Husam Al Mandhari, Senior Manager for City Centre Muscat. “Forty percent of our retailer partners are investing in the modernization of their stores to offer a refreshed shopper experience. These upgrades tie into the malls ambitions of redefining the retail, leisure and entertainment experience in Oman, and we are excited to be progressing as planned with our redevelopment.”
Majid Al Futtaim Properties has invested a combined 11.3 million OMR into the redevelopment of City Centre Muscat and Qurum City Centre. To date, the malls are making steady progress towards an early 2014 completion date. In addition to modernizing its stores, City Centre Muscat will feature Oman’s largest cinemas, a 10-screen VOX Cinemas, is expanding its popular Magic Planet attraction with new rides and welcome five new dining options and doubling its seating capacity. Currently, the mall boasts an exciting range of 22 dining options.
