Legendary stars of football’s greatest clubs: Real Madrid and Barcelona are making their first-ever visit to the Sultanate of Oman, and fans will have the exclusive chance to meet ex-players from both teams at Muscat City Centre and Qurum City Centre. On March 13th at 4:00pm, His Highness Sayyid Malak Bin Shehab Bin Tariq Al Said and His Highness Sayyid Mohammed Bin Salim Al Said will inaugurate official ceremonies at two locations to welcome Spain’s elite footballers in advance of their match on March 14th. Muscat City Centre will host Real Madrid, including central back Fernando Hierro, striker Raúl González, defenfer Fabio Cannavaro, Jose Emilio Amavisca Garate, and Francisco Pavon Barahona; and Qurum City Centre will host Barcelona, featuring Ludovic Giuly, Francesco Coco, Miquel Angel Nadal Homar, Deco, and others.

“Muscat City Centre is honoured to be working in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Sports Affairs, to bring football’s greatest players to the community,” said Husam Al Mandhari, Senior Mall Manager for Muscat City Centre. “Sport brings together people from all cultures, and we’re excited to present Real Madrid to its legions of fans here in Oman.”

“Football is amongst the most popular sports in the Arab world, and Qurum City Centre is delighted to welcome a team of legendary players that will leave both young and older generations star-struck,” said Watfa Humaid Al Harthy, Senior Mall Manager for Qurum City Centre. “We are thankful to the ministries for making this one of the most significant events of the year.”

Football fans are encouraged to come early on March 13th, to get the best photo opportunities and chances to meet their favourite players from Real Madrid at Muscat City Centre, or Barcelona at Qurum City Centre. The event will take place from 4:00pm-6:00pm simultaneously at both locations. An open Q&A and Meet & Greet session will take place at 4:30pm.

From March 13th-18th, fans can continue reveling in the football frenzy with a photo exhibition at Muscat City Centre, displaying action shots from Real Madrid’s most celebrated matches and at Qurum City Centre, showcasing the legends from Barcelona.
Muscat & Qurum City Centre are also giving away 10 pairs of must-have tickets to the Oman Legends Match on March 14th at the Sultan Qaboos sports complex. In addition, 20 football fanatics can win photo opportunities with their favourite players. These amazing prizes can be won through a competition on the malls’ Facebook pages.
This event demonstrates the positive relations and cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Spain, and the collaboration between the Ministry of Sports Affairs, Ministry of Tourism, and City Centre malls.
